Hi, I’m Marshall Mason, and I’ve spent my life immersed in the water. Teaching swimmers of all ages to reach their potential isn’t just what I do, it’s my calling.
My passion for swimming instruction ignited in 2012 at the Australian Swim School, where I discovered the deep satisfaction of teaching kids how to be safe in the water. It was there I realized that helping children build confidence and security in the pool wasn’t just a job it was my purpose. Watching kids transform from hesitant beginners to strong, safe swimmers inspired me to dedicate my life to this mission.
After gaining invaluable experience and laying a solid foundation at the Australian Swim School, I launched my own mobile swim business, teaching lessons in backyards and community pools. I loved meeting families where they were and creating customized learning environments for their children. As the seasons changed, and my lessons slowed during the winter months, I craved more opportunities to make an impact.
In 2013, I reconnected with Deanne Preyer, the owner of Zenith Aquatic Program (ZAP) my former coach, and one of my greatest mentors. She welcomed me onto her coaching team, and that marked the start of my journey in year-round competitive swimming. Deanne became a guiding force in my career, not just as a coach but as someone who believed in my potential. She sent me to the 2013 ASCA World Clinic in New Orleans, where I had the chance to learn cutting-edge techniques, performance psychology, and innovative training methodologies from some of the most brilliant minds in swimming. That experience fueled my confidence and ambition to make a difference in competitive swimming.
At ZAP, I had the privilege of learning from legends like Milt Nelms and Anthony Ervin, whose insights profoundly shaped my coaching philosophy. Those seven years with ZAP (2013-2020) were some of the most rewarding years of my life.
