-Deanne Twidwell-Preyer
In 2013, I embarked on a journey that would shape the rest of my life. DeAnne welcomed me into the Zenith Aquatic Program (ZAP), and from the very start, she believed in me. She saw potential I hadn’t yet discovered in myself and offered me an incredible opportunity to attend a world clinic in New Orleans and deepen my understanding of coaching.
I was in awe as I listened to world-class speakers, absorbing every insight, every drill, every lesson that could help shape swimmers into their best selves. I became a sponge, eager to learn, to grow, to give back. But beyond the technical knowledge, I saw something even greater. DeAnne’s unwavering passion and heart of gold. She wasn’t just building swimmers; she was building people, pushing each of us to reach our full potential.
My journey didn’t stop with DeAnne. Through her, I had the privilege of learning from incredible mentors like Milt Nelms and Anthony Ervin, each adding to the foundation she helped lay. Their wisdom, along with DeAnne’s relentless love for the sport, shaped me into the coach I am today. I wouldn’t be here without her, and for that, I am forever grateful.
